Are you exercising at home due to the pandemic?
Here is a list of strength training equipment to have to get the most out of your workouts at home.
Dumbbells
Pairs: small, medium, heavy
Only picking one pair: medium (8-15lbs)
Why:
- Use for upper body exercises
- Exercise both arms at the same time
Resistance Bands
Recommendation: purchase the bands with handles, along with the ankle-strap and door attachment
Why:
- Affordable, typically purchased as a set
- Multiple resistances allow for progressive overload
- Versatile, especially with a door attachment
- Use for both upper body and lower body exercises
- Space saver, easy storage
Kettlebells
Weight: medium and heavy
Only picking one kettlebell: heavy (20+ lbs)
Why:
- Add resistance to lower body exercises
- Use for single arm, single leg exercises
- Space saver
These are recommendations and approximations, the weights you purchase should be based on your fitness level and goals. Consult with your personal trainer or coach if you have questions.
Siera,
Thanks for this thoughtful post. It’s useful to know that leaning towards heavy for the kettlebells makes sense if I’m only buying one.
Cheers!
