Not much should change after a diet. Here’s a list of healthy lifestyle components and how they change (or don’t) post diet.
Calories
Your food intake should increase. Your coach (dietitian or personal trainer) should adjust your calories over several weeks. This is a gradual process to prevent unwanted weight gain while eating more calories.
Strength Training
This should not change. Type of exercises, sets and reps may change based on goals and adaptations, but strength training is a part of weight management and a healthy lifestyle.
Cardio
This may be adjusted based on personal preference, goals and how your body responds to an increase in food. Your trainer should have a plan for you.
Protein
Protein intake (grams of protein per day) should stay relatively the same whether dieting or not.
Sleep
Keep 7-9 hours as a target.
Water Intake
Should not change.
Step Average
Should not change.
Always discuss your post-diet plan with your doctor, dietitian and personal trainer.
